Blue Jays’ Kirk says he’s good to go for Game 7 after hit-by-pitch

With the World Series headed to a winner-take-all Game 7, the Toronto Blue Jays dodged a bullet on one of their top players.

Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk had his left hand hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the ninth inning in Friday’s Game 6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Myles Straw came in to pinch run for Kirk with the Blue Jays trailing 3-1.

After the team’s loss, Kirk went to get X-Rays, but said the imaging showed no fracture and he’ll be ready to play in Saturday’s Game 7 (Sportsnet, 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT).

The 26-year-old catcher went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Game 6.

Kirk has provided some big pop in the lineup throughout the Blue Jays’ post-season run, with five home runs and 13 RBIs.

If Kirk can’t go in Game 7, backup catcher Tyler Heineman would be in line to take his spot.
