Panthers look to wrap up homestand on high note against excellent Stars team

The Florida Panthers will wrap up their latest homestand on Saturday night when they welcome the Dallas Stars to Sunrise.

So far, the Panthers have gone 1-1-1 since returning to South Florida, picking up a resounding shutout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights sandwiched between a frustrating loss to Pittsburgh and shootout defeat to Anaheim.

They’ll be tested against an excellent Stars squad that has been playing some solid and consistent hockey over the past week.

Dallas arrives in South Florida riding a five-game point streak, though their most recent game was an overtime defeat up in Tampa on Thursday.

Skilled centerman Wyatt Johnston paces the Stars in goals, with six in 11 games, while Mikko Rantanen leads the team with 12 points.

On the Panthers side, it’s been a struggle for some of Florida’s top forwards to get their offensive game going.

While Sam Reinhart shares in the team lead in goals with Brad Marchand at five, Reinhart has just six total points in 11 games.

That’s one more point than Carter Verhaeghe has during that same span, and Sam Bennett, last year’s Conn Smythe winner, is sitting on one goal and one assist.

Fortunately for Florida, the team’s consistent secondary scoring from guys like Anton Lundell and Mackie Samoskevich have helped keep the ship afloat.

Here are the Panthers projected lines and pairings for Saturday’s matchup with the Stars:

Carter Verhaeghe – Sam Bennett – Sam Reinhart

Eetu Luostarinen – Anton Lundell – Brad Marchand

Mackie Samoskevich – Evan Rodrigues – Jesper Boqvist

A.J. Greer – Cole Schwindt – Luke Kunin

Gus Forsling – Aaron Ekblad

Niko Mikkola – Seth Jones

Uvis Balinskis – Jeff Petry
