WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Championship Match Gets Major Stipulation

A fiery segment on WWE SmackDown on Friday led to a new stipulation being added for “Saturday Night’s Main Event.” WWE’s live show returns this weekend with several championships on the line. That includes a massive match with Cody Rhodes defending his Undisputed WWE Championship.
Drew McIntyre is challenging for the championship, and during Friday’s in-ring contract signing, the challenger mentioned some key points about the match being “unfair” for him.
Specifically, Drew said that a disqualification on either side would mean he would not win the championship. As a result, he refused to sign the contract for the big match, with Nick Aldis telling him he wouldn’t agree to his demands.
However, Cody is a fighting champion who wants to show he can overcome any odds. He told Drew he was “100 percent fine,” adding a clause to the contract that he’d lose the championship if he got disqualified or counted out.
Despite Aldis suggesting Cody shouldn’t do that, he demanded Aldis add the stipulation so that he and Drew could finish this once and for all at “Saturday Night’s Main Event.”

Things became more intense after that moment, with Nick finally agreeing to the added stipulation. After both men signed, it became a war of words, with Cody saying that typically “nice guys finish last,” but not with him as champion.
However, Drew hit with some brutal remarks, telling Cody he is the true definition of the “American dream,” and then went so far as to mention Cody’s children. That prompted things to get physical, with Cody going after his opponent.
A brawl ensued in the ring, which included Cody wielding his championship belt as a weapon against Drew. Nick warned Cody that if he did anything like that at SNME, he’d lose his championship. Drew ultimately slammed Cody through the table in the ring and delivered a strong message with his championship belt in hand.

Cody has held the Undisputed WWE Championship since winning it back from John Cena at SummerSlam 2025. He’s successfully held onto it since then and took a bit of time away from WWE to film for his role in the new “Street Fighter” movie.
He and Drew will finally settle their differences at “Saturday Night’s Main Event” on Saturday, Nov. 2. In addition to their match, Dominik Mysterio puts his WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line in a triple threat match versus Penta and Rusev. Also, Tiffany Stratton defends her WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill, and CM Punk battles Jey Uso for the vacated WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Fans can watch all the matches live-streaming exclusively on Peacock on Saturday night, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
