Charles Radtke and Daniel Frunza collided in a welterweight showdown at UFC Vegas 110 on Saturday, with both men searching for a statement performance to cement their place in the division.
Radtke (10-5) entered the matchup 3-2 in his UFC tenure and looking to rebound from a May loss to Mike Malott at UFC 315. The Chicago native aimed to get back in the win column against Frunza inside the UFC APEX.
Frunza (9-3) entered the bout hoping for a fresh start after his UFC debut ended in a doctor stoppage against Rhys McKee, resulting in his first loss inside the promotion.
Round 1 – Frunza claimed the center of the Octagon early while Radtke circled and fired kicks from the outside. Radtke soon closed distance with a clean combination, sneaking an uppercut through before shooting for a takedown. He transitioned to the back and secured a hook as the fight hit the mat.
Radtke flattened Frunza to his left side and worked to free his right hand, landing repeated shots as Frunza struggled to defend. After absorbing several right hands, Frunza shifted his focus to blocking, allowing Radtke to free his left arm and hunt for the rear-naked choke.
Radtke briefly locked the choke in but surprisingly released it, opting to continue inflicting damage from back control. He made another attempt to slide his right arm under the chin, but the round expired before he could secure the finish.
Round 2 – Frunza opened the second round by throwing high kicks, clearly looking to adjust after a dominant first frame from Radtke. Radtke quickly closed distance, driving Frunza to the fence and attempting to trip him backward, though the initial effort didn’t land.
Moments later, Radtke dragged Frunza away from the cage and secured the takedown. From there, he resumed his ground-and-pound, steadily chipping away at a gritty but overwhelmed Frunza, who struggled to create space or work his way back to his feet.
The round ended with Radtke on top in side control landing an elbow right before the horn.
Round 3 – The third round began much like the second, with Frunza attempting to initiate the action, but Radtke once again timed the entry and secured a quick takedown.
Radtke transitioned to the back and continued landing punches before finally locking in the neck. This time, he secured the choke and squeezed for the finish, leaving no doubt.
A dominant victory for “Chuck Buffalo.”
