“Right after warnings were issued”; “Still a cheater” – Fans buzz as George Springer answers benches-clearing drama with a laser off Justin Wrobleski

Two pitches after the benches-clearing incident, George Springer hit a line drive straight back to LA Dodgers reliever Justin Wrobleski in World Series Game 7’s fourth inning.
Earlier, the left-hander struck Blue Jays shortstop Andrés Giménez on the right hand with a 96.4 mph fastball, after earlier pitching high inside. Giménez reacted and exchanged words with Wrobleski, resulting in benches getting cleared for a brief time. Since the situation de-escalated quickly, the umpires let it go without any ejections. At the time, the Blue Jays led 3-1.
So when Springer hit it right back at Wrobleski, Toronto fans went up in cheers.

Not only in the stadium, even on the internet, the Blue Jays fans made their feelings known about the sweet revenge.
“Right after warnings were issued,” one fan commented.
“Still a cheater,” one fan wrote.
“That’s karma at its finest,” one fan added.
“Couldn’t have planned it better 🤣” one fan said.
“Needed to be the face at 120 exit velo,” one fan added.
“I like how people think its some how retribution. Like, thats just statistics my guy,” one fan posted.
George Springer fouled off Justin Wrobleski leading to injury
Justin Wrobleski and George Springer had a moment earlier in the World Series as well. In Game 3, Springer fouled off Wrobleski’s 95 mph fastball and immediately grabbed his right side. He was in discomfort and was removed from the game.
“You just have to understand and kind of accept that nobody on the field is playing a hundred percent,” Springer said after the injury. “It’s not just you. And at the end of the day, I don’t really think anybody cares. If you’re out there, you’re expected to play and you’re expected to perform to the best of who you are that day. So for me, it just kind of is what it is. I have a job to do, so I expect to go do it. It doesn’t really matter how I feel.”
Because of this discomfort, the Blue Jays held him out of the Game 4 starting lineup.
Earlier in the ALCS, it was Springer’s seventh-inning three-run home run that propelled the Blue Jays into the World Series for the first time since 1993. Having won one with the Houston Astros already, if the Blue Jays win Game 7, Springer will add another championship to his resume.
