Newcastle set to block £30m transfer ahead of January window – Report

Even if we still have two months and plenty of huge games left to play of 2025, it won’t be long until attentions turn to the January transfer window.

Eddie Howe has hinted at ‘small outlays’ this winter, suggesting we may only see slight tweaks to the squad if anything after a big summer saw us secure six senior signings in Woltemade, Wissa, Elanga, Ramsey, Thiaw and Ramsdale.

Outgoings may be one to watch for those out of contract next summer or in need of more minutes, but one player heavily linked with a summer exit looks to be going nowhere.

According to The Mail’s Craig Hope, Will Osula is set to stay on Tyneside, with no plans for him to be sold in the upcoming January transfer window – even if another £30m offer arrives.

Writing in his Confidential column, Hope revealed that despite interest from both within England and from abroad in Osula’s services, the club has reneged on any plans to sell the young Dane.

Osula was almost sold on deadline day to German club Eintracht Frankfurt and it’s been suggested that the Bundesliga side are still keen and prepared to reignite their interest in January.

However, Hope insists that Newcastle will reject offers, even if the German side return with the £30m proposal that was initially accepted on deadline day before a deal collapsed, with Aston Villa also willing to pay that figure.

Now he’s developing into a far more threatening striker, and a far more dependable option off the bench, Osula’s gotten to a stage where it will be hard to find a replacement for him for a sensible price tag.

Hope notes that the attitude within the club regarding Osula is that “there is no player on the market better at the same price and profile”.

Having just qualified for the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, and hopes high that we can also go far in both the Champions League and FA Cup this season, we’re going to need all the players we have, and Osula is no exception.
