Smriti Mandhana set a new record for most runs by an Indian in a Women’s World Cup with 416 in 2025, surpassing Mithali Raj’s 409 from the 2017 edition.

Smriti Mandhana scored the highest number of runs by an Indian player in a Women’s World Cup in the 2025 edition, during the final aganst South Africa at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
Smriti moved past Mithali Raj, who had scored 409 runs in 2017.
Mandhana concluded the tournament as India’s top scorer and second overall, behind South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt, who scored 470 runs. Mandhana accumulated 434 runs across nine innings, with an average of 54.25, including a century and two fifties, with her highest score being 109.
Previously, Mithali Raj had India’s best-ever World Cup batting performance in the 2017 edition, amassing 409 runs in nine innings at an average of 45.44 and a strike rate of 70.15, achieving a century and three fifties, with her highest score also being 109, just one run short of England’s Tammy Beaumont (410).

This year, Smriti Mandhana has dominated women’s ODIs, becoming the leading run-scorer with a record-breaking 1,362 runs in 23 innings, at an average of 61.90, including five centuries and five fifties, with her best score being 135.

Debbie Hockley from New Zealand tops the list with 1,501 runs, the most in Women’s World Cup history. Close behind is India’s Mithali Raj, who has amassed 1,321 runs, demonstrating remarkable consistency over two decades.
England’s Jan Brittin and Charlotte Edwards were also exceptional performers, both averaging over 40. In recent years, Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa and Nat Sciver-Brunt of England have recorded impressive averages over 50.
India’s Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana have been standout modern-era players, each scoring over 900 runs, with several big centuries and high strike rates.
