South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has etched her name in cricket history books with a record-breaking performance in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.
During the final clash against India at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, she went past Australia’s Alyssa Healy to become the player with the most runs scored in a single edition of the tournament.
Wolvaardt, who needed just 40 runs to surpass Healy’s mark, achieved the feat in style during the high-pressure chase of 298 runs. Her consistent form throughout the campaign has been one of the key reasons behind South Africa’s dream run in this edition.

How did Laura Wolvaardt break Alyssa Healy’s record?
Before the final, Wolvaardt was third on the list of highest run-getters in a single Women’s World Cup, trailing Alyssa Healy (509 runs in 2022) and Rachael Haynes (497 runs in 2022). But her knock against India pushed her tally to 512*, taking her right to the top.
This achievement made her the first player in history to breach the 510-run mark in a Women’s ODI World Cup. What makes it even more special is that she accomplished this milestone while leading the Proteas to their maiden appearance in a World Cup final.

What were Laura Wolvaardt’s standout performances in the tournament?
The defining moment of Wolvaardt’s campaign came in the semi-final clash against England, where she played one of the finest innings in South African women’s cricket history.
Her 169 off 143 balls became the highest individual score by a South African in the Women’s World Cup.
That innings also made her the second-highest scoring captain in World Cup history and saw her cross the 5,000-run mark in Women’s ODIs.
