Liverpool ended their run of four straight Premier League defeats with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday night. Mohamed Salah put Arne Slot’s under-pressure side ahead just before the break after a mistake from Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Ryan Gravenberch then doubled Liverpool’s lead around an hour in to seal a crucial three points for the Reds. The result has moved Liverpool up to third in the league standings ahead of Sunday’s fixtures.
Liverpool return to action on Tuesday evening at home to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Having come under-fire following the dismal midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace, in which he made 10 changes, Slot had his name chanted during the first half against Villa.
And asked what the fan support means to him, he said: “A lot, especially because it happened at 0-0 and not when you are leading or top of the league but when you are in a difficult situation as a club and a team, and as I’m part of the club it’s also a difficult situation for me.
“They help you especially when things are difficult. The last few weeks have been difficult. We were losing, so they felt the players and me needed a bit of support, and that’s what you get from these fans.”
