Blue Jays’ 1B France wins Gold Glove

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Ty France won his first Gold Glove Award, being announced as the American League’s best defensive first baseman Sunday night.
He played 124 games at first base and had a career-best nine defensive runs saved above average. He also slashed .257/.320/.360 with seven home runs and 52 RBI at the plate.
France was acquired by the Jays at the trade deadline from the Minnesota Twins along with reliver Louis Varland in exchange for prospects Kendry Rojas and Alan Roden.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was also nominated as a first baseman. Fellow Blue Jays Alejandro Kirk (catcher) and Ernie Clement (third base, utility) were also nominated but did not win.
