Kakha Kaladze at the City Council session: The victory we achieved in the elections is the victory of Tbilisi residents

This is already the third time I have the honor of holding the status of mayor elected by a large part of Tbilisi residents, which means that the policy of capital development that we have been implementing for years is correct and has no alternative – I promise you, we will cherish every vote you gave us and turn it into concrete actions, – Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated this during his speech at the session of the newly elected City Council.

Kaladze informed the City Council members about specific information regarding the pace and process of ongoing projects in the capital.

“The victory we achieved in the local self-government elections is not only our team’s – it is your victory, the victory of Tbilisi residents, people who believe in Tbilisi’s potential and its future. I will never tire of expressing gratitude for the trust shown; I will not grow weary of being in your service so that every promise I introduced to you in the form of an election program becomes reality and a step forward for our capital. Accordingly, today I stand before you with only one promise – I promise you, we will cherish every vote you gave us like the apple of our eye and turn it into concrete actions.

As for the work, the day after the elections, we started working in all directions and have already taken concrete steps. As you know, a tender has been announced for the preparation of design and estimate documentation necessary for the construction of the tram line connecting Didi Dighomi and Didube, as well as for construction/installation works. I hope that by the end of December, we will have a winning company. Also, together with the Mountain Resorts Development Company, work has begun on the concept of the Betania ski resort. Creating recreational infrastructure of this scale near Tbilisi is of utmost importance for our capital. As we announced before the elections, in the next 5 years, 111 new, modern-standard carriages will be added to the Tbilisi metro, meaning 25 trains, of which 14 will be 4-carriage units and 11 will be 5-carriage units. Through close cooperation between Tbilisi City Hall, the central government, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the tender for purchasing new modern carriages has already been completed, and the winning company, LLC “G-T Group,” has been identified. Design work has begun for the second exits of the metro stations “Marjanishvili” and “Akhmeteli Theatre.” Another pleasant news is the cable car development project. Specifically, as we have already announced, a cable car will be arranged connecting the “Sarajishvili” metro station and the Sea District, as well as the “Isani” metro station and Vazisubani,” Kaladze stated.
