Amy Dowden, 35, took to her Instagram account to reveal she’s been advised by medics to undergo another mastectomy.

It comes after the Welsh lass was first diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May 2023, and underwent an initial mastectomy.

Then just a couple of months later she was told she had another type of cancer, which was found elsewhere in the body.

In August 2024, her return to Strictly was thrown into chaos when doctors raised concerns about abnormalities in her breast following a check-up, yet she was thankfully given the all clear.

Now Amy, who was partnered with Thomas Skinner this series, has insisted she does not have a new cancer diagnosis but is undergoing further treatment.

She wrote in her emotional caption, which accompanied a video showing her on the sofa with her dog: “Hey everyone,

“As you all know I’ve always been very open about my health and the care I receive.

“So I’d like to start by being clear what I am about to share is not to treat a new cancer diagnosis.

“However following a recent appointment with my incredible medical team, we’ve decided that I’ll be having another mastectomy this week.

“They’re confident that, all going well, I can expect a straightforward recovery.

“Once I have healed I look forward to rejoining my Strictly family.

“Of course I’m going to miss not being there so much but I will be watching from home and look forward to cheering everyone on.

“Thank you always for all the support. Welsh love Amy xxx”

It remains to be seen whether she will return for the Strictly final in December.

Strictly first kicked off back in 2004, and over the years has crowned 21 winners.

The dancer was sadly first to be eliminated with her Apprentice star partner earlier in the series.

HUGE SUPPORT

Amy, who also received chemotherapy during her cancer treatment, is now in remission.

Her co-stars and loyal fans were quick to wish her well after today’s unexpected update.

Strictly pro Karen Hauer wrote in the comments section: “Sending all the love.”

Former Strictly winning pro Jowita Przystal added: “Sending lots of love.”

Dianne Buswell then put: “We love you Amy.”

One fan added: “Oh Amy I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this. Wishing you all the best with the surgery and your recovery. LOTS OF LOVE X”

Another put: “Sending love and positivity xxxx”

RAW REVEAL

Previously, Amy charted her journey back from illness in an hour-long documentary called Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me.

In the film, it was clear that getting back to Strictly was Amy’s main focus.

Amy revealed: “When I had to tell Strictly, I was asking ‘Can I keep my job?’ because that was the scariest thing.

“To dance at the highest level, you have to be as fit as an athlete.”

Amy was also concerned about how Strictly’s wardrobe team might help her back into her show costumes following the rebuilding of one of her breasts.

At one point in the doc Amy told show co-star Dianne: “Everything has been so fast.

“Literally two weeks from surgery and we’re straight into that whirlwind of emotions, we’re into surgery and accepting a new boob.

“The anxiety I feel is that it’s all happened really quickly.

“I didn’t know what structure we can do with my breast. I didn’t look at my breast for two weeks.

“I had to do it with the nurse, and I was really scared, because what if you don’t like it?”
