Everton are once again showing their support for the Bradley Lowery Foundation ahead of their Monday night trip to face Sunderland.

While Sunderland have their rivalry with David Moyes, the Black Cats have a mutual relationship with the Toffees.

Ever since Everton donated £200,000 to the Bradley Lowery Foundation back in 2016, as well as inviting Bradley and his family to be guests of honour at Goodison Park, the Merseyside outfit have shown continued support.

On Monday, the Toffees announced via X that they have donated their mascot experience at the Stadium of Light to Sunderland supporter Ruben, who, after two and a half years of treatment, was finally given the all clear from leukaemia.

As we reaffirm our support for @bradleysfight, we have donated our mascot experience for tonight’s game.

We will be led out by Sunderland fan Reuben, who went through leukaemia treatment for over two-and-a-half years before getting the all clear. 💙https://t.co/WdSe2FqURW

Sunderland supporters show appreciation for wonderful gesture

Bradley Lowery united football supporters all around the country with his personality and smile, even through some of the hardest times.

Sunderland have continuously supported the foundation, with extra help from Jermain Defoe, with the duo sitting comfortably at the top among a long list of Wearside legends.

Everton’s gesture certainly didn’t go unnoticed, with the replies flooded with Black Cats supporters showing their appreciation for their Merseyside counterparts.

Another supporter said: “What a club you lot are, classy gesture.”

Everton and Sunderland relationship examined

Aside from Bradley Lowery bringing the two clubs together, Everton and Sunderland have a lot in common, which is why the relationship has been mutual all these years.

Jordan Pickford is another of the reasons, having made the move to Goodison Park after breaking into the first team with Sunderland.

When speaking to the BBC, Pickford said on his return to Wearside: “I have always wanted to go back to the Stadium of Light and to have this opportunity.

“With how well Sunderland have done to get back into the Premier League after a number of years.

“I’m praying I get a good reception, I think I will do, I think they know how passionate, how much of a Sunderland lad I am.

The stature of the two sides is another similarity, with both Everton and Sunderland having endured some tough times over the last few years.

As for Pickford, he will certainly get an excellent reception come 8pm on Monday, but the Black Cats will do all they can to ensure that he is on the losing side.
