A Wolverhampton record label has responded to growing speculation that one of its artists could be behind the music for this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert.
The retailer has so far only released a six-second teaser on social media letting fans know that the much-anticipated advert – now a Christmas tradition for families across the UK – will be released in full later this week.
Despite the brief clip showing nothing more than someone’s hand setting up a record player and a single piano key, fans believe they’ve already worked out which song will feature in the ad.
Internet sleuths commenting beneath John Lewis’ Instagram post have speculated that the track could be ‘Where Love Lies’ by Alison Limerick.

Wolverhampton-based record label Revolver Records has now addressed that rumour directly.
A spokesperson for the record label told us: “We can’t confirm if ‘Where Love Lives’ is the featured track in the advert.
“Viewers of the advert can confirm for themselves when the ad rolls out on socials tomorrow (November 4) – and then when its speculated the ads will roll on Thursday on ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky, etc.
Revolver Records founder Paul Birch
“What we can say is that, at the end of this month, we’re releasing the new Alison Limerick album ‘Spirit Rising’, which features the track ‘Where love Lives’.
“The single will be released by Sony, but the album will be released by Revolver through our distributor Warner.”
The record label added: “Other albums out this Christmas from Revolver include Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet and Tony Christie.”
Revolver has operated from its base in Wolverhampton since 1978 and famously released music by The Stone Roses.
It has also released albums by artists such as Jane’s Addiction, UK Subs, Leo Sayer, Julian Marley, Lamont Dozier, Diamond Head, the Scorpions, Sister Sledge and Rozalla.
Revolver says it has released over 7,000 albums in total and, in August alone, streamed more than 240 million tracks from its catalogue through DSP’s in 200 countries.
The John Lewis ad campaign is thought to cost millions of pounds in the run up to Christmas.
