David Ortiz Warns Rest Of MLB After Dodgers’ World Series Win

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series with an instant classic Game 7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday night. After the game, David Ortiz wondered if it’s time to start talking about the back-to-back champions as a dynasty.

“The Dodgers are building up a dynasty,” Ortiz said during Fox’s post-game coverage. “I mean, you can’t get a better ballclub than the one they have had for the past five-six years.”

The Dodgers have made 13 straight playoff appearances, exceeding 90 wins each season aside from a pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign that ended in a Dodgers championship. Ortiz’s former Boston Red Sox teammate, Dave Roberts, has led Los Angeles to five National League pennants in 10 seasons as manager.

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman has built a sustainable juggernaut that’s continued to spend aggressively. The Dodgers have added Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernández, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki in the last two offseasons.

“They know how to put it together,” Ortiz added. “They have a great front office. They have a great manager. They have great players, and that’s what you get when you put all the pieces together.”

Alex Rodriguez concurred, noting that the Dodgers also have a promising farm system to complement their stacked big league roster. They boast seven of MLB.com’s top-100 prospects, led by outfielders Josue De Paula (No. 13), Zyhir Hope (No. 20) and Eduardo Quintero (No. 34).

“They have the number one minor league system, both in pitching and in hitting,” Rodriguez said. “They’re not going anywhere, boys. They’re just getting started.”
