CM Punk WWE Heavyweight Championship Wishlist: 3 Things We’d Love To See

At the Saturday Night Main Event PLE, the unthinkable happened. CM Punk won the World Heavyweight Championship.

This was something that Seth Rollins vowed never to let happen since CM Punk came back to WWE. But with Rollins is out of action due to injury, WWE crowned a new champion at Saturday Night Main Event.

Now, there are plenty of possibilities when it comes to who will face CM Punk to try their hand at dethroning the “Best in the World.” Punk’s reign will certainly deliver memorable moments and matches, but first, let’s take a look at how we got to this point and why CM Punk winning a title in WWE is so significant.

WWE Has A Talent Wasting Problem

CM Punk: In the Beginning…

The story starts all the way back in 2014 when CM Punk walked away from the WWE. It was after the Royal Rumble that Punk left the company for several reasons, including a lack of respect from the WWE and a case of burnout.

Since then, Punk has publicly criticized and trashed the WWE product, especially in the creative aspect of the company. In the eyes of many, that was the final straw in the story of CM Punk and WWE.

To some, there was no way that Punk was ever going to wrestle in the WWE ever again.

CM Punk’s Triumphant Return

Roughly ten years pass, and WWE is about to go off the air with the conclusion of another successful Survivor Series when the unthinkable and probably the loudest pop of the year happens.

“Cult of Personality” hits, and CM Punk walks out of the back to a sea of people going absolutely nuts.

Seth Rollins was not happy. Why? His reasoning was understandable, as he stated that his hate for Punk stemmed from the years of constantly trashing the company to now walking in like nothing ever happened.

That is understandable, but people make mistakes, and I, for one, am glad he is back.

Rollins later made the bold claim that Punk would never win another WWE title as long as he is around.

This was a promise that was eventually broken.

Saturday Night Main Event is now over, and with Rollins out of the picture, CM Punk is the new World Champion.

What Should Happen During CM Punk’s Championship Run?

Rollins may not like it, but Punk is holding a belt, and fans are in store for a new championship reign.

Fresh New Rivalries

I would love to see Punk get into fresh rivalries with younger talent like Bron Breakker, Dom Mysterio, and Carmelo Hayes. I would also love to see LA Knight get the opportunity to step in the ring with Punk for a legitimate rivalry.

The promos would be legendary.

A Lengthy Title Reign

Seeing CM Punk have a long run with the title, one that replicates his WWE Championship run, would be fantastic.

I don’t want it to overtake Roman Reigns’ run, but I would love to see it come close to surpassing what Reigns achieved.

Reuniting With Paul Heyman

This one shouldn’t come as a surprise, but Punk is an OG Paul Heyman guy. Pair those two back together, and CM Punk would become more dangerous than ever.

When Rollins eventually returns, he will be coming for Punk, but Heyman will be with Punk and be the reason that Rollins never gets the title back.

The possibilities of this CM Punk title reign are endless. I can’t wait to see how WWE plays this out. Punk is known for being scrappy and savvy; he will win by any means necessary, and with Heyman by his side, he wouldn’t be able to be stopped for a long time.
