Not long after World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk was outright saying he wants a match with him during a strong opening show promo on Monday Night Raw this week, Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio got some microphone time of his own. He didn’t respond to Punk, instead saying no one out there is good enough to take his titles from him.
Then his father’s music hit the loud speakers.
Indeed, Rey Mysterio made his return to WWE and while he was on his way out, Wade Barrett told us he’s also medically cleared. That hasn’t been the case dating back to before WrestleMania 42 back in April.
Mysterio told his son he wouldn’t stand for Dom disrespecting lucha libre — he’s been making appearances for AAA while out injured, and rumors have suggested he could have an expanded role there in the future. The Dirty one didn’t take too kindly to being challenged by his dad — though Dom claimed again here that Eddie Guerrero is that guy — before Rey reiterated his main message.
“As long as I’m around, you will never be king of the luchadores; As long as I’m around, this will never be your ring; And as long as I’m around, you will never be the greatest Mysterio.”
Naturally, they got physical shortly after and Rey got the better of it, delivering his patented 619 before Dominik bailed out of the ring. These two seem destined to fight forever.
At least now, dear old dad can fight back again!
