The young rider was heading northbound on the Hume Highway near Berremangra, south of Yass, when his car collided with a driver heading in the wrong direction.
Cahill has spent the past few days in hospital receiving treatment for a fractured C7 vertebrae in his neck and fractures to his L1 vertebrae in his lower back.
He has been cleared of damage to his spinal cord and nerves with a full range of motions of his limbs.
Mane Lodge, the stable of Cahill’s boss Neil Osborne, released a statement on the incident on Tuesday morning.
“On behalf of Glenn, his loved ones and the Mane Lodge team we would like to send our heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and emergency services teams, the staff at Canberra Hospital for his ongoing treatment and recovery and to all those who have sent their love and support,” the statement read.
“Glenn is a tremendous young man and much loved member of our team and we would like to wish him a speedy recovery.”
Cahill had his first race ride in June of 2023 and has been closing in on 50 winners in the saddle.
