Pistons make first lineup change with veteran forward out against Grizzlies
The Detroit Pistons will be without veteran forward Tobias Harris for the first time this season for Monday night’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Harris briefly left Detroit’s win against the Dallas Mavericks in Mexico City on Saturday, being considered questionable to return due to a right ankle injury.
He returned to the game and played 36 minutes — second-most on the team — scoring 11 points with six rebounds.
But the right ankle sprain will now force Harris, 33, to miss his first game of the season after starting the first six matchups of the year for the Pistons.
In his 15th NBA season, Harris is posting 13.5 points, six rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, while shooting 39.4% from the field.
With Harris absent, Isaiah Stewart will get the start at one of Detroit’s forward spots in his place. Stewart is averaging 9.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocker per game and will make his first start of the season alongside Cade Cunningham, Duncan Robinson, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren.
This will serve as the first change to the Pistons’ starting lineup since the start of the regular season.
Guards Marcus Sasser (right hip impingement) and Jaden Ivey (right knee) are also out for Monday’s game in Memphis. Neither has made their season debut with Sasser working back from a hip injury and Ivey rehabbing from an arthroscopic procedure he underwent on his right knee on Oct. 16.
