The Washington Communist Commanders lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, final score 28 to 7. They battled for a couple of quarters without Jayden Daniels out there, but didn’t have enough firepower to beat KC in KC. They’re now 3-5 on the season.

With the Eagles at 6-2 and leading the NFC East, they are now a humongous favorite to win the division at BetMGM:

  • Eagles: -625
  • Commanders: +700
  • Cowboys: +1100
  • Giants: +15000
  • Highest Ticket%: Giants 32.4%
  • Highest Handle%: Eagles 35.1%
  • Biggest liability: Giants

Safe to say those Giants tickets won’t be cashing. They were a sexy offseason pick after drafting Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter, which led to a lot of people throwing a unit or two on the G-Men. Obviously the handle was mostly on the Eagles at an opening line of -175, while the Commanders came in with +220 odds in Daniels’ second season. The Cowboys opened at +800 and then slipped to their current number after getting hammered by the Broncos.

There’s a lot of football left to play, and anything can happen, but the Cowboys still have to play the Eagles, Chiefs, and Lions in Weeks 12, 13, and 14. Washington plays four in a row at home, vs. the Seahawks, Lions, Dolphins, and Broncos, but two of their final three games are against the Birds. And the Giants are done. Stick a fork in ’em. They’re 2-6 and play a murderer’s row that includes San Fran, Chicago, Green Bay, Detroit, and New England over the next five weeks. There’s a chance someone goes on a run here and moves the odds a little bit, maybe to the point where you parlay the Eagles to win the division with another future (maybe Bucs to win the South), but otherwise we’re watching from the couch and playing online slots and online casinos.

You’re probably aware that the NFC East hasn’t had a repeat winner in a long time. It’s been more than 20 years, actually. You’d have to go all the way back to 2004 when the Birds did it in the halcyon days of Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb. That was part of the stretch when the Eagles won four NFC East titles in four years. Prior to that, the last back-to-back streak was the Cowboys from 1992 to 1996, so it’s uber-rare for any of these teams to win the division in consecutive seasons.
