Exhibition ‘Flow State” opens in Icherisheher [PHOTOS]

The exhibition “Flow State” has opened at the Kichik QalArt
Gallery in Icherisheher as part of the “Fly to Baku. Art Weekend.
Sense the Future NOW” Arts Festival, co-organized by Heydar Aliyev
Foundation and the IDEA Public Union in partnership with Azerbaijan
Culture Ministry, Azernews reports.

Baku, often referred to as the “city of fountains,” is a place
where water plays a central role in both its physical landscape and
social life.

The city’s fountains act as gathering spots where people come
together to relax, play, debate, dream, and even fall in love,
creating spaces where public and private moments seamlessly
merge.

In this exhibition, water symbolizes Baku’s constant change,
energy, and life—mirroring the city’s evolving identity and the
stories of its people.

For this project, seven Azerbaijani artists Fidan Abilova, Elnur
Musayev, Gunel Jafarova, Leyla Isayeva, Nigar Safarova, Huseyn
Jalil and Aydin Baghirov were invited to create works inspired by
the fountains found throughout Baku’s city center.

Each artist delves into how these public spaces capture both
collective and personal stories, contributing not only to the
city’s identity but also to its vision for the future.

Curated by Lesley Gray, Sitara Ibrahimbayli and Mahinbanu
Safikhanli, the exhibition “Flow State” will be on display at the
“Zaman Art Gallery” until November 30.

From October 31 to November 2, Baku hosts the “Fly to Baku. Art
Weekend. Sense the Future NOW” Arts Festival, a celebration that
blends art, culture, and ecology.

The event is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the
IDEA Public Union, in collaboration with Azerbaijan Culture
Ministry.

The project is conceived and initiated by Leyla Aliyeva,
Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

This immersive initiative turns Baku into a dynamic hub of
contemporary creativity, dialogue, and exploration. A special
emphasis is placed on the ecological state of the world’s oceans
and seas, conveyed through the medium of art.

The festival’s core theme water symbolizes life, renewal, and
sustainable development.

Chosen as a symbol of resilience, transformation, and collective
memory, water serves as the central element of Art Weekend,
encouraging a meaningful exchange between Azerbaijan and the global
art community.
