SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Tuesday, Election Day, is the big day to make your voice heard on the issues that will impact you the most whether you live in Georgia or South Carolina.
In both states, polling places open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. As long as you are in line by 7 p.m., you will be allowed to vote.
Election Day in Georgia
Georgia’s My Voter Page is a helpful tool that you can use to look up your voter registration information.
On Tuesday, you must vote at your assigned polling location. If you submitted an absentee ballot, the website will show if it’s been accepted.
Also on the My Voter Page, you can find sample ballots.
Taking a look at some of our local races-a big local seat is up for grabs in Statesboro and Richmond Hill, and it’s for mayor.
No matter where you live in the state, everyone will be able to vote in the Public Service Commissioners race where two spots are up for re-election.
In Georgia, at your polling place, you will be asked to show one of the following photo IDs. You can use a driver’s license – even one that’s expired, a free state-issued ID, passport, military ID, student ID from a public college, or employee I-D issued by a local, state or federal government.
Election Day in South Carolina
In South Carolina, you can visit scVOTES.gov for your voter registration information and the list of upcoming elections. You can also view a sample ballot, which will give you time to look up more information on specific candidates and key issues.
Taking a look at some of our local races—the mayoral seat and two seats on Yemassee’s town council are up for grabs. And in Port Royal, two town council seats are also on the table.
In South Carolina, at your polling place, you will be asked to show one of the following Photo IDs. A driver’s license, Department of Motor Vehicles ID card – which includes a state issued Concealed Weapons Permit – Voter Registration Card with Photo, U.S. passport or federal military ID which includes all Department of Defense Photo IDs and the Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits Card.
