The Atlanta Falcons are moving on from Parker Romo after they waived him on Tuesday and signed Zane Gonzalez, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported.

The news comes two days after the kicker missed the game-tying extra point against the New England Patriots — Romo’s former team — late in the fourth quarter in Atlanta’s 24-23 loss.

The Falcons erased a 14-point deficit and looked poised to tie the game at 24-24 after Drake London made an incredible touchdown catch on fourth down.

Romo came out for the PAT, but was unable to convert the kick to keep the Falcons trailing.

The 28-year-old spent training camp with Patriots before he was cut to make room for rookie Andres Borregales. He had a strong camp and appeared more reliable than Borregales.

The Falcons signed Romo in September after Younghoe Koo missed a crucial 44-yard field goal in the final seconds of Atlanta’s eventual loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
