All flight operations on hold at Reagan National Airport

All flight operations are on hold at Reagan National Airport due to a “security” threat, according to airport officials and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Officials said the threat was made against an incoming United Airlines flight.

The FAA has the hold listed as a ground stop on its website. This is the statement the federal agency put out:

“The FAA is aware of a reported security issue on an aircraft at Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Passengers have been removed, and the aircraft is away from the terminal while authorities investigate.”

Authorities said the flight landed safely and passengers are being bused to the terminal.

Neither the airline nor the FAA has said what the threat was, but on an air traffic control recording, the controller can be heard instructing the United pilot that they are moving the plane away from the airport due to an “unconfirmed bomb report” for the flight.
