High-profile morning show hosts are out amid sweeping cuts

Amid sweeping layoffs for CBS News from its parent company, well-known morning show hosts at “CBS Saturday Morning” are being impacted by the cuts, per media reports.
The morning show’s co-hosts Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson, as well as the show’s executive producer, Brian Applegate, were let go last week, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Paramount started laying off 1,000 workers last week, with another 1,000 layoffs planned soon as its new owners try to curtail expenses by $2 billion. Those cuts impact CBS News, CBS, Comedy Central and other divisions, per media reports.
Meanwhile, John Dickerson, co-anchor of “CBS Evening News,” also said last week that he will exit the network at the end of the year.
On Saturday, Jacobson posted on Instagram that Nov. 22 would be hers and Miller’s last show together as co-hosts.
“Three more Saturdays for [Michelle Miller] and me,” she said in the post. “November 22nd slated for our last show. Cannot wait to see you next week.”
Jacobson has contributed to CBS News programs since 2015 after previously working as a sideline reporter and anchor for ESPN. She’s covered sexual abuse cases at Ohio State University and The University of Michigan, as well as anchored coverage of the Missouri Duck Boat accident in 2018.
Miller was named a co-host of “CBS Saturday Morning” in 2018. She’s worked for CBS News for more than 20 years, covering key events like the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the killings of George Floyd, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, as well as the Emanuel 9 Massacre in Charleston.
