Is there anything Smriti Mandhana can’t do with the bat?

The Indian superstar just keeps finding new ways to make cricketing history, and she’s done it again in style.

The elegant left-hander smashed a breathtaking 109 against New Zealand in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, but that was only the beginning of her record-breaking day.

With that innings, Mandhana became the highest run-scoring opener in Women’s ODI history, overtaking New Zealand legend Suzie Bates’ mark of 5,088 runs — and she did it in 20 fewer innings.

Ah well, this wasn’t the only record the Indian shattered today.

Mandhana also smashed the world record for most sixes in Women’s ODIs in a single calendar year, belting her 29th of 2025 to eclipse Lizelle Lee’s record (28 in 2017).

Alongside opening partner Pratika Rawal, Mandhana then piled on a 212-run opening stand: the highest ever for India in a Women’s World Cup match, surpassing the 175-run partnership between Thirush Kamini and Punam Raut from 2013.

It’s also jsut been a year of pure dominance for the Indian vice-captain.

Earlier in the tournament, she became the first woman to score 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year, and crossed 5,000 career ODI runs — the fastest and youngest to reach the milestone, outpacing greats like Stafanie Taylor and Bates.

Oh, and she also broke Belinda Clark’s 27-year-old record for most runs in a single year (Clark’s 970 in 1997).

So, what can’t Smriti Mandhana do with the bat? At this point, the answer seems simple — absolutely nothing.
