During the most recent episode of Strictly Come Dancing, the remaining celebrities faced intense pressure as they took on Icons Week challenges.

George Clarke performed a Jive to Harry Styles’ As It Was, Lewis Clarke attempted a Quickstep to Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire, whilst Balvinder Sopal aimed to dodge another dance-off with her routine to Beyoncé’s Texas Hold’ Em.

This comes after Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced they were leaving the BBC show after 21 years.

Throughout the BBC programme, reality television personality Vicky Pattison revealed the profound significance of her dance as she became emotional during her video package, reports Wales Online.

For Icons Week, Vicky shared that she would be dedicating her Couple’s Choice routine to a track by Girls Aloud star Cheryl.

In her pre-filmed segment, Vicky expressed her deep respect for the Newcastle-born performer. Whilst chatting with her father on the sofa, Vicky acknowledged that whilst she’d enjoyed a wonderful childhood, she’d gone astray during her later years.

She reflected: “I first started out in this industry at about 21. I made some bad decisions.

“I just don’t think, at that age, I had the tools to navigate that space I was in. Now, I do my best ot be a better version of myself. Someone I can look in the mirror and feel alright about.”

Whilst speaking to the camera, Vicky was spotted in tears as she told BBC audiences she’s delighted to be part of the programme, observing her family amongst the spectators.

She continued: “What I’ve learnt about myself is that with determination and a little bit of self-belief you can achieve stuff.”

Explaining how the track Fight for This Love holds special significance for her, she went on: “The idea that the comeback is stronger than the setback, you can have the life you want, you can change the narrative, you can be who you want to be, not letting the past define you.

“I think that’s really powerful. I’ve worked on myself, and now I’m here in a place that makes me really happy, and I’m finally becoming a woman I’m proud of.”

Following their performance, which the panel described as her finest yet in the contest, Claudia Winkleman had a surprise waiting for her – a video message from Cheryl.

The performer said: “Hi Vicky, it’s Cheryl here. I first of all wanted to say congratulations on your Strictly success thus far, you’ve been doing amazing.

“I’m very honoured and humbled to be your chosen icon for this week. I know you’ve got it in you because you’re a Geordie! So do out there, fight for you place and I’m sending you loads of love, I’ll be rooting for you from home.”

Vicky was left astounded by the message, amazed that Cheryl recognised her. Ultimately, her performance garnered her a score of 33 from the judges.
