As the victim-impact statement of Denis O’Brien, one of the richest people in Ireland, was read aloud in courtroom five of the Criminal Courts of Justice on Friday, those in attendance heard about the “extraordinary deceit” he suffered at the hands of former Kilkenny hurler DJ Carey.
