“More Important Than Gyokeres” – Emile Heskey Names The Arsenal Signing Who Can Help Win The Title

Former Premier League striker has named a different Arsenal signing than Viktor Gyokeres as the most important.

The Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table and in a commanding position to win their first league title since the 2003/04 season. Mikel Arteta’s side are currently the favourites to win the league, and have been living up to those expectations.

Before the season, the whole discussion during the summer was around Arsenal signing a striker, as previously they didn’t have a solid number nine who could be the target man in Arteta’s attack. However, now they have Viktor Gyokeres, who they paid £64m for in the summer.

So far, the Swedish international has looked good during games, but just hasn’t been able to get his scoring form to match last season when he netted 54 goals in 52 games. Nevertheless, everyone can agree that signing him was an excellent piece of business.

Heskey says Eze is more important to Arsenal than Gyokeres

Despite the talk about Arsenal needing a striker, former Premier League and England forward Emile Heskey has claimed that Eberechi Eze was a more important signing for Arsenal to make with regards to the league title.

Heskey told 10bet Casino: “Arsenal haven’t had a top-level 9 that will score 20 – 25 goals since Robin van Persie left. Gyokeres is dynamic, he runs the channels. But he’ll get his goals. I think he has done really well and complimented the way they want to play under Mikel Arteta.

“For me, the signing of Eze is more important than Gyokeres, but they will need Gyokeres’ goals to contribute towards winning the title. They’ve finally signed the focal point attacker that so many people said Arsenal needed. How many goals will he score? If he gets 10 and Arsenal win the title, nobody will care less!

“They have not had a player like that for a long time. In the past, they’ve been spoiled with strikers like Thierry Henry, so he could be the man to make the difference, but he needs to start putting the chances away.”
