Men’s Basketball Opens The Season On The Road At Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team opens the 2025-26 regular-season with a road game at perennial NCAA Tournament team Oregon on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Tipoff fis 7:30 p.m. PT/5:30 p.m. HT  at Matthew Knight Arena with the game being televised live nationally on the Big Ten Network. 

It’s a rare season opener on the road for the Rainbow Warriors who have played their last 18 season openers in Honolulu. UH and Oregon will face off for the 12th time with the Ducks winning the last meeting six years ago in Eugene.

GAME STORY LINES

  • The Rainbow Warriors will open the regular season on the road for the first time in nearly two decades when it plays at Oregon. The ‘Bows last opened on the road in 2006 (73-59 loss at UNLV).
  • This is just the sixth road opener in 55 years.
  • The November 4 regular-season season start date is also the earliest in program history.
  • This will be the 12th all-time meeting between the teams and the fourth in Eugene. Oregon won the last meeting, 89-64, on Dec. 7, 2019.
  • UH is coming off just its second-ever losing season, and first in eight years, under head coach Eran Ganot, who enters his 11th season.
  • The Rainbow Warriors return one starter and four letterwinners from last year’s squad that finished 15-16 overall and 7-13 in the Big West.
  • UH welcomes nine newcomers to its 13-player roster, including six Division I transfers.
  • Among the newcomers is Isaac Johnson, who began his collegiate career at Oregon in 2021-22.
  • The Rainbow Warriors were selected third in the Big West preseason poll.
  • Oregon, which went 25-10 last year, was picked fifth in the preseason media Big Ten Poll and were just placed just outside the preseason Associated top 25 poll (27th).
