Yankees Predicted to Outbid Dodgers in Franchise-Altering $400M Move

The New York Yankees failed to get back to the World Series this past season, and could get aggressive to end the championship drought in the Bronx.

The Yankees have reached just one World Series with Aaron Judge, and it was when the team also had Juan Soto. The Yankees have good players around Judge, but may need to get another superstar to really become contenders. Kyle Tucker is available in free agency and could be the answer.

Tucker had a down year by his standards, but was still an All-Star. He also played through a hand injury and struggled at his home ballpark, Wrigley Field. His numbers on the road were stellar, and his left-handed swing could thrive at Yankee Stadium, like Cody Bellinger’s did. The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly expected to go after Tucker, with their seemingly endless supply of money. However, Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter predicted the Yankees will outbid them.

“The Los Angeles Dodgers are widely believed to be the favorites to land Kyle Tucker in free agency this winter, with a glaring hole in left field and a bottomless pool of financial flexibility,” wrote Reuter. “However, he could be the player the New York Yankees decide to make a top priority, and if they want to flex their own financial muscle, they are still capable of spending with any team in baseball.”

Spotrac projects Tucker to sign a 10-year, $401 million deal in free agency. He is projected to become one of the highest-paid players in the league, and could be the running mate for Judge that the Yankees hoped Soto would be.
