A Wolverhampton city centre street is closing for two weeks – here’s when and which bus services will be diverted

National Express West Midlands has warned of diversions to seven bus services as construction works in Wolverhampton city centre get underway. 

The works will see the closure of Cleveland Street between Cleveland Passage and Summer Row, with the works expected to take place from Monday, November 3, to Friday, November 21.

The closure is to make way for footway construction works, with the National Express West Midlands services 1, 3, 4, 10, 10A, 711 and 736 all being diverted during this time. 

On X, the bus group said: “From Monday 3rd – Friday 21st November, Cleveland Street will be closed between Cleveland Passage & Summer Row for footway construction works. 

“During this time, services  1, 3, 4, 10, 10A, 711 & 736 will be diverted.”

Service 1 

Heading towards Dudley. Buses will divert from Chapel Ash via Chapel Ash Island, Ring Road St Marks, School Street, Pitt Street, Worcester Street, Temple Street, Summer Row, and Cleveland Street to rejoin the normal line of route.

Heading towards Tettenhall Wood. Buses will follow the normal line of route.

Service 3

Heading towards Fordhouses. Buses will divert from Chapel Ash via Chapel Ash Island, Ring Road St Marks, School Street, Pitt Street, Worcester Street, Temple Street, Summer Row, and Cleveland Street to rejoin the normal line of route.

Heading towards Castlecroft. Buses will follow the normal line of route.

Service 4

Heading towards i54. Buses will divert from Chapel Ash via Chapel Ash Island, Ring Road St Marks, School Street, Pitt Street, Worcester Street, Temple Street, Summer Row, and Cleveland Street to rejoin the normal line of route.

Heading towards Springhill. Buses will follow the normal line of route.

Services 10 and 10A

Heading towards Wolverhampton. Buses will divert from Chapel Ash via Chapel Ash Island, Ring Road St Marks, School Street, Pitt Street, Worcester Street, Temple Street, Summer Row, and Cleveland Street to rejoin the normal line of route.

Heading towards Perton/Pattingham. Buses will follow the normal line of route.

Services 711

Heading towards Wolverhampton. Buses will divert from Chapel Ash via Chapel Ash Island, Ring Road St Marks, School Street, Pitt Street, Worcester Street, Temple Street, Summer Row, and Cleveland Street to rejoin the normal line of route.

Heading towards Compton Park School. Buses will follow the normal line of route.

Service 763

Heading towards Wolverhampton. Buses will divert from Waterloo Road via Ring Road St Andrews, Chapel Ash Island, Ring Road St Marks, School Street, Pitt Street, Worcester Street, Temple Street, Summer Row, and Cleveland Street to rejoin the normal line of route.

Heading towards St Regis Church of England Academy. Buses will follow the normal line of route.
