Jalen Williams injury update: OKC Thunder star has second wrist surgery

The OKC Thunder announced Friday that Jalen Williams underwent a follow-up procedure on his right shooting wrist.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Steven Shin at Cedars-Sinai Health in Los Angeles to remove a screw that was creating irritation during the final stages of Williams’ return to play process. He’ll be re-evaluated in 10 to 14 days.

Williams is still waiting to make his debut this season. The 24-year-old forward initially underwent surgery on July 1 to repair a torn ligament in his wrist.

Williams suffered the injury last season but played through it to help OKC win its first NBA championship. The Thunder is 6-0 to start this season despite his absence.

Given the timetable, Williams will be re-evaluated sometime between Nov. 10-14. That means he’ll at least miss OKC’s first 11 games of the season.
