Bexar County Voters Officially Pass Propositions A & B

After months of campaigning, arguments, and town halls, the battle over Propositions A & B is finally over in Bexar County.

After record turnout across Bexar County, voters officially passed both propositions, with 100-percent of the votes counted.

Proposition A passed with 55-percent of the vote, while Proposition B passed with 52-percent of the vote.

Both clear the path for the construction of a new arena for the Spurs, as well as the revitalization of other buildings downtown.

Proposition A will authorize the use of $191 million from venue tax revenue to make improvements to the Freeman Coliseum, Frost Bank Center, and the San Antionio Stock Show and Rodeo facilities. Prop A also increases the venue tax rate from 1.75-percent to an even 2-percent.

Proposition B then paves the way for the new Spurs arena downtown. The estimated cost of about $311 million will come from venue taxes, but if approved, will allow money to be used from motor vehicle rental taxes for construction.
