SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Yonhap) — South Korea’s presidential artificial intelligence (AI) committee on Wednesday discussed the safe use of AI technology with global large language model developer Anthropic.

During the meeting, Mann said South Korea ranks among the top five countries in terms of Claude users, and the company seeks to open an office in Asia’s No. 4 economy in early 2026.
Mann said Anthropic aims to promote the safe spread of AI in South Korea and strengthen the competitiveness of local startups and businesses.
In response, Im said the safe use of AI technology is essential for the government’s initiative to establish an AI-driven society and offered to work closely with Anthropic over the proposed launch of a new office here.
