Selling Sunset’s Emma Breaks Silence on Chrishell Feud Over Boyfriend Blake

Emma Hernan and Chrishell Stause‘s falling out shocked Selling Sunset fans — but is there a chance for a reconciliation after their feud over Blake Davis?
During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Emma, 33, recalled not wanting to “choose” between her best friend and boyfriend.
“I feel like I wanted both relationships to work. I still wanted Chrishell to be my best friend and I did want to revisit the relationship with Blake,” she explained. “I thought that I could make both work — and I couldn’t. For whatever reason, I did not want the friendship to end.”
Emma hinted that it was out of her hands.
“That was not a choice that just happened but I did not want the friendship to end,” she continued. “I [also] did not want my relationship with him to end. I think ultimately the choice was made by other people but it wasn’t made by me. That’s kind of what happened in that situation.”
Emma and Chrishell’s crumbling friendship was a central story line on season 9, released on Wednesday, October 28. On screen, Chrishell, 44, made it clear that she didn’t think Blake was right for Emma, who went back and forth on whether she wanted a future with her then-boyfriend.
While Emma and Blake split during the season, their breakup was short-lived and, based on social media, the couple is currently back together.

“I have enjoyed my time with him and I couldn’t keep worrying about what other people say or who they want me to be with. Ultimately I have to follow my heart and even if I have to learn the hard way, this is somebody that I’m choosing to be with,” Emma told Us. “Everyone can say what they want — or they can either love him or hate him. But ultimately, it’s my choice who I end up with.”
Emma ultimately chose to prioritize her future with Blake.
“A few of the girls were like, ‘If that’s your man, then say that’s your man. Just own it. No one can dictate who you can or can’t be with.’ So I decided I am going to be open to this relationship and not be ashamed of my best friend not liking him,” she continued. “If it works, it works and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. But I don’t want to have any regrets that I cared what other people thought when I did enjoy my time with him.”
Her friendship with Chrishell, meanwhile, has been on pause since the latter accused Blake of using a racial slur. Chrishell recently told Variety that “a lot” of context about Emma’s boyfriend was “left out” of the show.
“When I met him, there were so many red flags that happened in one short meeting. Sometimes you meet someone and you may not like the way they dress, or they may rub you the wrong way because they’re a little awkward,” she explained earlier this month. “I found real things to be dangerous with his personality. He recently posted about how he was going to sue my d*** off. This isn’t a normal person. Anybody who meets this man is not going to want their friend to date him. Of course, he wasn’t like that on camera. He acted one way to me. Then, he came on camera and flipped the script.”
Emma Hernan‘s off-and-on romance with Blake Davis was a major story line on season 9 of Selling Sunset — but who is her boyfriend? Selling Sunset, which premiered in 2019, follows employees at high-end Los Angeles real estate brokerage the Oppenheim Group. Emma joined the cast in season 4 when her connection with Peter Cornell […]
According to Chrishell, discussing Emma’s relationship put her in a “dark place.”
“We were best friends — me, her and Chelsea [Lazkani], who she also doesn’t speak to anymore. It’s a sad situation,” she added. “At this point, they deserve each other. I wish them the best. … I don’t want to be friends with her anymore. She’s made it very clear what her morals are, and we do not align.”

Emma, however, said she was “holding on to a friendship” with Chrishell before having to cut ties.
“It’s one of those things with their personalities where they just will never see eye to eye. They are on two ends of the spectrum in the sense where she doesn’t appreciate certain things that he does and he doesn’t appreciate certain things that she does. Unfortunately, I am in the middle,” she added. “There was a point where I loved them both so much. My ideal situation is for my best friend and my boyfriend to love each other. It was the hardest on me because it was really difficult to watch. I didn’t want to make a choice because I really wanted it to work with both.”
Selling Sunset is currently streaming on Netflix.
