Seven schools in New Brunswick forced to close because of alleged threats

FREDERICTON — Fredericton police have arrested a youth for allegedly making bomb threats against seven schools across New Brunswick.
Six Fredericton-area schools were evacuated earlier in the day and locked down as police investigated the threats.
In Moncton, Arnold H. McLeod Elementary School was evacuated after its administration received a threat.
The seven schools were closed for the day and are expected to reopen Wednesday.
Police did not give details about the identity of the suspect.
In a news release, the Anglophone East School District says RCMP in the Moncton area have concluded their investigation and the school and surrounding area are safe.
The Anglophone West School District says the other schools affected are Fredericton High School, George Street Middle School, Nashwaaksis Middle School, Barker’s Point Elementary School and Leo Hayes High School.
In Oromocto, N.B., about 17 kilometres southeast of Fredericton, Assiniboine Avenue Elementary School was closed and will reopen Wednesday.
