Multiple shower chances in the week ahead

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Happy Monday! Our Monday starts off dry and sunny this morning with temperatures in the 30s for most across the area. As we head through the day ahead, it starts mainly sunny, but clouds are back on the increase into this afternoon. Clouds start to give way to rain showers late this afternoon and into this evening. Highs for the day climb back into the low and mid 50s for most. Showers last into the first part of the night tonight, before starting to clear into early Tuesday morning.

Most will start Tuesday dry, but there could be a few leftover rain and snow showers in the Northeast Kingdom and Northern New Hampshire to start the day. Any leftover rain or snow should quickly dry out through the course of the morning hours though. Even while most start the day dry, clouds are in place to start, but we see more and more sunshine emerging into tomorrow afternoon and evening. Highs for the day are in the upper 40s and lower 50s Tuesday afternoon.

Clouds are back on the increase come Wednesday, then light rain is likely by afternoon, continuing overnight. It may mix with snow overnight, so minor slush accumulation is possible on some roads especially in the higher terrain spots, but widespread travel impacts aren’t expected. Highs Wednesday will be in the 40s. Thursday will be colder with scattered showers and mountain snow showers, especially to start the day.

After some morning sun on Friday, clouds will increase during the day as our next system approaches. Rain is expected by late afternoon, continuing overnight. It may be mixed with a little snow in the mountains. Highs will be in the 40s to near 50 degrees. Lows will be in the 40s. The weekend will start off with showers and snow showers on Saturday with highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Lows will be colder, in the 20s. Sunday is shaping up to be quiet but rather chilly. Most locations aren’t expected to get out of the 40s.

Have a great week! -Peter Kvietkauskas
