Bruges is blaugrana

The FC Barcelona delegation attending tonight’s Champions League fixture against Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium was received this morning at Bruges City Hall, ahead of the traditional directors’ lunch.
President Joan Laporta led the blaugrana delegation and addressed those present, including the mayor of Bruges, Dirk De Fauw, and the local football club’s honorary president, Michael D’Hooghe. Laporta began his speech in Flemish, saying “we are happy to be in Flanders,” adding that “Barça feels loved and respected by its many fans throughout the country.”
The president emphasised that events like today’s “remind us of the true scope of FC Barcelona: a Catalan club open to the world, which, beyond sport, stands for inalienable values such as freedom, democracy and equality among people.”

Before the official reception, the Barça president spoke to the media and highlighted the upcoming reopening of the Spotify Camp Nou, which will take place this Friday with an open doors training session: “We’re very excited to reopen the stadium” he said. “The fact that all tickets have sold out is great news. It will be a good test to make sure everything is working properly.”
Earlier in the morning, Laporta also met with representatives of the FC Barcelona supporters’ clubs from Ghent and Paris at the Van der Valk Hotel in Bruges. He was joined by board member for the Social Area, Josep Ignasi Macià, and first-team coach Hansi Flick, who was in high demand among fans for photos and autographs.
