‘Shetland’ season 10 review: This Scottish crime drama used to be one of the BBC’s finest – now it looks very ordinary indeed

The series has been flattened into the kind of crime drama we’ve seen many times before, with the lead characters shoehorned into the familiar good cop/bad cop types

An article in a British newspaper at the weekend about tonight’s return of Shetland (BBC One, Wednesday, November 5) condescendingly dismissed it as “Dad TV”.

This was more than a little unfair on a series that’s always been a lot more nuanced than many primetime crime dramas.
