Rosalía returns with mystical album: ‘God has given me so much, the least I could do is make an album for him’

A white car sped through the streets of Madrid on the evening of Monday, October 20. A rosary hung from the rearview mirror and a halo had been drawn onto the hair of the driver, Rosalía. The singer, 33, waved to fans who recognized her through the window. Soon, the crowd grew so large that the Catalan artist had to step out of the car.

At a brisk pace, she made her way to Plaza del Callao, right in the heart of the city. People followed her, reached out to touch her, to take her photo. Radiant in her white dress, Rosalía quickened her step before disappearing behind the glass doors of a hotel. While the crowd cheered, an avalanche of ecstatic comments erupted on TikTok, where the procession was being broadcast live.

How to make sense of this strange apparition? The answer was soon revealed on the giant screens set up around the Plaza del Callao. After a long countdown, they revealed for the first time the cover of the fourth album by the artist revered well beyond Spain’s borders. In the photo, a white nun’s veil hides her brown hair; a form-fitting garment, the same color, hugs her arms, which are crossed against her chest. The title of the album set to be released on November 7 consists of just three letters: Lux, meaning “light” in Latin.
