Passenger trapped after bridge collapses in truck crash

A truck has crashed into a bridge, causing it to collapse, and trapping a person inside the vehicle in the New South Wales central west.

Emergency services were called to Inch Street, Lithgow, at 8:55am on Thursday after a cherry picker vehicle hit a disused railway bridge.

A man, believed to be the driver, managed to free himself, but a passenger remained trapped inside.

There was no indication on the condition of the trapped person.

NSW Ambulance said the driver was treated for minor injuries before being taken to Lithgow Hospital.

The road has since been closed as crews worked to remove the vehicle.

In a post on social media, the Lithgow City Council said it did not have an indication of when access to the road would be restored.
