Hines under review by the NCAA

Guard CJ Hines runs drills in practices on Nov. 5. | LILLIAN PRIETO / THE TEMPLE NEWS
The NCAA is currently reviewing Men’s Basketball guard CJ Hines for potential eligibility concerns from circumstances prior to his enrollment at Temple, the program announced Wednesday afternoon.
Hines will not participate in any “athletic competition” while the NCAA is reviewing the situation. Hines will not play in Temple’s season-opener Wednesday night against Delaware State.
Hines transferred to Temple after spending two seasons at Alabama State and three years at Faulkner. He has totaled 2,318 points during his college career and was expected to provide a scoring punch in the Owls’ lineup.
The guard helped lead Alabama State to the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament during the 2023-24 season before being named tournament MVP last year. He started every game last season with the Hornets, including the two NCAA Tournament games.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
