Manhunt as killer driver flees after Birmingham hit-and-run

Police urge motorist to ‘do the right thing and make yourself known’ after Highters Heath Lane tragedy

Police are hunting a killer driver after a man was fatally injured in a hit-and-run crash.
The pedestrian died after a crash in Highters Heath Lane just after 7.30pm yesterday, Tuesday, November 4. He was in his 70s.

A neighbour told BirminghamLive the victim was a ‘lovely guy’ with family currently being supported by specialist officers.
West Midlands Police urged witnesses or those with doorbell or dashcam footage to come forward.

“To the driver of the car we would say come forward, do the right thing and make yourself known.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service said it received multiple 999 calls. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a critical care car responded to the scene.
A spokeswoman said: “Ambulance staff were at the patient’s side within four minutes of the 999 calls being made to find the pedestrian, a man, in a critical condition. The team worked rapidly to administer advanced life support to the man but sadly, he couldn’t be saved and was confirmed dead a short time later on scene.”
