What did Suryakumar Yadav say earlier after India’s win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup?

Last month, after India’s victory against Pakistan, Suryakumar had dismissed the idea that the two teams share an intense rivalry anymore.

He mentioned that the results speak for themselves, as India have beaten Pakistan multiple times in a row since 2022.

He explained that if two teams have played many matches and the head-to-head record remains close, like 7-7 or 8-7, then it can be called a rivalry.

But if the difference is big, such as 13-0 or 10-1, then it doesn’t make sense to use that word.

His remarks came after India’s convincing win, which continued their dominant run against Pakistan in white-ball cricket. India haven’t lost to their arch-rivals in any format since the 2022 Asia Cup.

What did Azam Khan say on Suryakumar’s comment?

Azam’s agreement might surprise a few fans, but he based his view on pure facts.

He admitted that the results over the past few years show how India have been far ahead in terms of consistency and performance.

Speaking about the comment, Azam said, “I don’t know if I should say this, but technically he’s correct.”

The India–Pakistan cricket rivalry has always been more than just sport. But in recent years, the contests have become one-sided in major tournaments.
