Varun Chakaravarthy cleans up Glenn Maxwell for 2 to leave hosts reeling in AUS vs IND 2025 4th T20I [Watch]

Varun Chakaravarthy took the prized wicket of Glenn Maxwell in the fourth T20I between India and Australia at the Carrara Oval in Queensland on Thursday, November 6. The leg-spinner removed Maxwell for just 2 to leave the Aussies reeling at 103/6.

The dismissal came in the 15th over of Australia’s run chase. Varun bowled a googly and Maxwell fell into the trick. The right-handed batter gave himself room to play it towards the offside, but missed out on it completely. The ball smashed on top of the off-stump before entering the wicketkeeper’s gloves.

Varun Chakaravarthy finished with figures of 1/26 in his four overs. The World No.1 T20I-ranked bowler has scalped five wickets in the series. He has bagged 26 wickets in 15 matches this year.

A clinical bowling display helped India stay on top of Australia in the fourth T20I.

At the time of writing, the Aussies were 116/8 after 17 overs, with Ben Dwarshuis and Nathan Ellis at the crease. Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, and Washington Sundar have bagged two wickets apiece. Apart from Maxwell, Dube removed Tim David for 14 off nine deliveries.

Asked to bat first, India posted 167/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Vice-captain Shubman Gill top-scored with 46 runs off 39 balls with the help of one six and four boundaries. Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dube, and skipper Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with their 20s. Axar Patel provided the finishing touches, scoring an unbeaten 21 off 11 deliveries.

A win would help India take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Australia won the second T20I by four wickets, while the Men in Blue clinched the third match by five wickets. The series opener was abandoned due to rain.

The fifth and final T20I will be played at The Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, November 6.
