Gusty winds expected in Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County on Wednesday

Gusty winds up to 80 km/h at times are expected in Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County Wednesday afternoon and into the evening.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning “southwesterly winds are expected to become northwesterly this afternoon with the passage of a cold front.”

“Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects and cause tree branches to break. Power outages are possible,” the special weather statement notes.

Winds are expected to diminish in the evening and overnight.

The forecast is calling for a chance of showers during the day Wednesday and a high of 11 C.

Overnight, there’s a 70 per cent chance of rain and possibly flurries with a low of 2 C.

Thursday is expected to be cloudy, again a 70 per cent chance of rain or flurries, and a high of 7 C.
