Pakistan chose to bat vs South Africa
“I have no idea what’s going on in this country,” South Africa’s stand-in ODI captain Matthew Breetzke said after they lost a seventh successive toss against Pakistan, who chose to bat in an effort to close out the series. None of Aiden Markram, Donovan Ferreira or Breetzke had called correctly so far on the tour across formats.
The outcome of the toss may not be as decisive in white-ball matches and Breetzke was not too unhappy with the opportunity to try and limit Pakistan. South Africa made two changes from the XI that lost on Tuesday, both in the bowling department. Lungi Ngidi and Lizaad Williams were benched for left-armer Nandre Burger and legspinner Nqaba Peter.
Their selection was in contrast to Pakistan, who chose to leave out legspinner Abrar Ahmed and middle-order batter Hassan Nawaz for Faheem Ashraf and Mohammed Wasim.
All three matches in the series at Faisalabad were sold out.
