Gaylord City Council
Six candidates were running for three available seats on the Gaylord City Council in Tuesday’s election.
Voters were able to pick from Pieternel Feeheley, Ryan Kennedy, Vic Ouellette, Taylor Peterson, Hannah Techel and Alan Witt.
According to unofficial results from the Otsego County Clerk, the top three vote getters were Ouellette (382), Techel (355) and Kennedy (316). Witt received 232 votes, Peterson had 222 votes and Feeheley got 84 votes.
Results remain unofficial until certified by the Board of Canvassers.
Cheboygan-Otsego-Presque Isle Educational Service District CTE Proposal
The COPESD CTE millage failed to pass in Tuesday’s election.
According to unofficial results posted by the Cheboygan County Clerk, there were 6,947 no votes and 5,737 yes votes. The Presque Isle County Clerk’s office said their numbers were reported alongside Cheboygan County’s. Otsego County had 1,928 yes votes and 2,468 no votes, and that total includes two Charlevoix County townships. Two Emmet County townships had 41 yes votes and 91 no votes.
The 6-year, one mill proposal would have enabled school districts in the COPESD the ability to offer more career and technical education courses and allow for students to travel within the ESD for courses at other schools.
The COPESD serves Cheboygan Area Schools, Gaylord Community Schools, Inland Lakes Schools, Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools, Mackinaw City Public Schools, Onaway Area Community Schools, the Posen Consolidated School District, Rogers City Area Schools, the Vanderbilt Area School District and the Wolverine Community School District.
