Tyler Glasnow is set to take the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the 2025 World Series after the team split the series’ first two games on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Across 13.1 playoff innings, the 32-year-old right-hander has scattered just a single run while striking out 18 Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers hitters.
Glasnow is certainly not the most discussed member of the vaunted Dodgers pitching staff: that honor certainly belongs to fellow aces Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. However, Glasnow certainly boasts the most creative way of having met his partner of any Los Angeles pitcher.

While pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021, the pitcher spotted a pretty girl in the crowd. “I saw a girl who was kind of cute, so I had our team photographer zoom in on her — this just sounds very weird — but she was wholesome, with a girl-next-door look,” he said in a previous interview.
“So I wrote my phone number on a ball, threw it to her, and told her to text me. She came to the next game, threw me a ball with her number, and told me to text her.” The pair — Glasnow and Meghan Murphy — have been dating ever since and are currently engaged.

Glasnow has been somewhat camera-shy about sharing more information about the story. However, he told the full tale to FOX and Los Angeles play-by-play man Joe Davis last year, elaborating on the story.
“He gets a ball and writes his phone number on it, throws it up to her, and said, ‘Text me.’ She comes to the next game, throws him a ball back with her number, and says, ‘No, you text me,’ and so he did, and the rest is history,” Davis revealed on a 2024 Dodgers broadcast.

Glasnow, a California native, started his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was infamously traded — alongside fellow prospects Austin Meadows and Shane Baz — to the Rays in an ill-fated trade for Chris Archer.
The right-hander struggled to stay healthy but was dominant when he was, typified by his 1.78 ERA across 60.2 innings during the juice-ball 2019 season.

The Rays traded him to the Dodgers in 2024, where he pitched a career-best 134 0 innings and earned his first All-Star nod. Glasnow started 18 games in 2025, striking out 106 batters in 90.1 innings to go along with a 3.19 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP.
Monday will be his third career World Series start and his first since 2020 when his Rays side took on the Dodgers.
